Dr. Jeong-Won Jeong is a MRI physicist, medical imaging scientist, and assistant professor in the departments of pediatrics and neurology at the School of Medicine, Wayne State University. Before joining toWayne State University, he had completed his doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering at University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles, CA. His dissertation was titled by "Localization of Brain Alpha Activity using Independent Component Analysis in functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Electroencephalograph" (Mentor: Professor Manbir Singh). He completed post-doctoral fellow training in the departments of radiology(www.3tmri.usc.edu), biomedical engineering (www.bme.usc.edu), and Alfred E. Mann Institute for Biomedical Engineering (www.ami.usc.edu) at USC. His research topics were to investigate diffusion tensor MRI technique for detection of axonal damage in traumatic brain injuriesand develop new 3-D ultrasound computer tomography system for early detection of breast cancer. Over his academic career, he has built up strong expertise in applying functional MRI, diffusion MRI, EEG, ultrasound, and PET to neurological disorders. An emphasis of his recent work has been the development of imaging biomarkers for the children with autism spectrum disorders, global developmental delay, and borderline personality disorder using diffusion tensor MRIand functional MRI. Also he has an interest in developing new algorithmic techniques and systems to facilitate the analysis of pediatric functional imaging studies.
